Ytterligare en variant, en nodulär form finns beskriven. Lesionerna påminner då om de som ses vid lumpy skin disease hos nötkreatur. Knutor utvecklas i huden men dessa utvecklas inte vidare till blåsor, utan nekrotiseras och stöts av, efterlämnande ulcera som läker mycket långsamt.
